Paving the Way for New Integrated Experiences

Samsung is a South Korean multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. It comprises numerous subsidiaries and affiliated businesses, most of them united under the Samsung brand.

One of Samsung’s subsidiary companies invests in technology evolution, in particular, SmartTV apps. Samsung hired our team to partner with them visualizing a first of its kind application that shares photos and videos from a smart phone to a SmartTV.

Challenge

Samsung has continued to dominate the consumer electronic marketplace by continuing to invest in integrated service offerings that improve the lives of its customers. In 2014, Samsung’s major area of focus regarding integrated technology turned to SmartTV’s. SmartTV’s have quickly evolved into an expected entertainment component for consumers. Samsung met consumer’s expectations by launching a multi-screen application that connects a user’s smart phone and SmartTV.

Solution

Samsung hired our team to envision and design the application’s user interface. The application is a multi-screen experience where users select content on their mobile devices to be displayed on the Samsung SmartTV. Through the app, users can select local photos and videos as well as videos from YouTube and Facebook and photos from Facebook. The mobile app initiates and interacts with the TV app using Samsung’s Easy Connect APIs making it incredibly easy for the users to discover, launch and interact with the SmartTV.

Result

At CES 2014 in Las Vegas, NV, Samsung’s MIT organization showcased the first to market integrated application for sharing videos and photos from a mobile device to a SmartTV. The application was intuitive, clean, simple and developed using Samsung’s new Platform for the application. It was met with great praise and solidified Samsung’s leader position in the marketplace.
